icon on Howard & Howard is pleased to announce another significant victory on behalf of InterMotive in ongoing trade secret litigation involving Ford Motor Company. The latest ruling resulted in an award of nearly $2 million in attorneys' fees, further recognizing the strength of InterMotive's claims and the firm's successful efforts to protect its client's intellectual property rights.
The district court awarded InterMotive nearly two million dollars in attorneys' fees after determining that the case was exceptional under the Lanham Act and finding that Ford's trade secret misappropriation was willful and malicious. The award follows earlier six-figure sanctions imposed during the litigation and represents another significant milestone in the case.
The attorneys' fee award comes in addition to a prior judgment of approximately $20 million. That judgment included a $13.2 million jury verdict, along with additional awards granted by the court. Together, these rulings underscore the substantial relief obtained on behalf of InterMotive in connection with the unlawful use and misappropriation of its proprietary information.
The matter continues to draw significant attention due to the important issues involved, including trade secret protection, intellectual property rights, and the calculation of damages in complex commercial litigation. An appeal addressing these significant trade secret and damages issues was recently argued before the Sixth Circuit.
